Driving Miss Dottie

As a mother, I put every ounce of trust and confidence in the big sister this week.  I let Mary Margo drive Dottie around the yard in her pink Barbie Jeep.

Dottie enjoyed the cool breeze across her face, playing with the radio, and the occasional jerk and sudden whiplash sustained with every half circle around the yard.

Mary Margo enjoyed being the BIG SISTER.  Showing Dottie how to work the radio, making sure her seat belt was tight, and protecting her from sudden stops.

It was fun.....fun to watch, fun to ride, and fun to be the driver.

The Backyard just got REAL Exciting!

Big Green Slide and Superstar Dad for putting it all together.

This little girl LOVES to swing.

"Push me! Push me!  I want to touch the sky."  She screams and screams.
I am certain that everyone from Town Creek Park clear up to Samford Hall can hear her screaming
"BLAST OFF - I AM GOING TO OUTER SPACE!"

This little girl on the other hand does not particularly enjoy the swing.  She cries the whole time and when I finally pick her up she lays her head on my shoulder like she is terrified.  I am hopeful that this will change by the end of summer.

Here is what Dottie did today when she wasn't crying in fear.
She clinched the swing as tight as she could with her fingers and her 4 teeth.

Happy!

So close to Outer Space as Dottie holds on tight to all things earthly!

Dottie 500

Welcome race fans to the inaugural DOTTIE500.  This is a short track race just a few couple feet around the kitchen isle.  The race cars aren't powered by horses under the hood but by the fiery little spirit of the big sister.  At four years old this motor is FAST!  The home made box car is fashioned by mom (who thought this was a great idea for some afternoon fun)

Drivers Ready?

Ladies START YOUR ENGINE

No time to cry....LET'S GO RACE'N

Here we go around turn one

Checkered Flag!!

And She Wins!

Winners Circle.

Oh look, a steering Wheel

Nope...just some paper.

GULP!
(time to put down the camera and dig the paper out of  little Trixie's mouth)

Pictures are worth a thousand words

This is just a glimpse into our house and the little personalities that live here.  The expressions on the faces say it all so I am going to let the pictures speak for themselves.
Enjoy!

Week #2 Lesson Learned

The diaper bag!
That all important bag that carries the essentials for your baby while out and about around town.

Lesson #1
If you think the bag is in the back seat, you should always double check before setting out on 3 hour adventure out of town.

This actually happened last week with Do-Daddy.  I knew the bag was in the back, in the floor board, under Dottie's seat.  Why would it be anywhere else?  When Do-Daddy went to change Dottie, we realized there was no bag.  Lucky for us, he found a diaper tucked away in the back pocket of the front seat.  Not so lucky for Dottie...it was a size 1...she wears a size 3.  Needless to say, the shopping trip was cut short.  We crossed our fingers and prayed during the 30 minute drive home that Dottie wouldn't suddenly realize her diaper was fitting more like a string bikini!  We made it home peacefully and sweet Dottie didn't even notice our mishap!

Lesson #2
I guess this lesson needs to be change out the "Emergency Kit"  So that if you ever have to re-live Lesson #1 you will have the correct size diapers.

Lesson #3
It is very important to have the diaper bag, but it is equally important to pack it with every thing you might need.....for the baby.

We set out for the park yesterday morning.  My wishful thinking told me that 2 hours at the park would equal a 2 hour nap for Mary Margo.  HAHAHHA!  That was funny, huh!  That didn't work out.
Back to packing....I packed everything we would need...
diapers - check
wipes - check
bottle - check
snacks - check
water - check
capri suns - check check

So we get there .....we play.....we swing...we do it again.
I enjoy my apple I packed, water I packed.  Mary Margo sucked down her two capri suns I packed, she  snacked on some baby puffs I packed.  Notice something here.  The baby bag is packed.  Me and Mary Margo are good!

Dottie gets fussy......I break out the bottle.  Start mixing it up and realize I don't have all the parts to the bottle.  We use AVENT bottle.  They have 4 parts.  I only had 3.  I was missing the "washer" (aunt Mandy's term) the round ring that keeps it from leaking.  AND LEAKING IT DID!  It was an 8oz bottle.  Dottie may have gotten 4-5 oz and the rest was soaked into the burp cloth.  GREAT!  I guess it could have been worse.  I could have been missing the nipple or something.  But of course, Sweet little "go with the flow" Dottie was happy with her 4 oz and some puffs.

Oh, and a pappi would have been nice to have too.  Forgot it!

Hand sanitizer - Didn't forget it.  I just need to add it to the essentials list.

Week #1

Just a little peek at what happened in our world this last week.
Oh by the way, it was my first week at my new full time job.....being a MOM!!

We visited with Friends

Dottie met Mollie and loved her!
We went to a Birthday Party!

Dottie Met Champ!

Mary Margo took a long ride on Champ.

We found a purpose for this crazy patio/porch/slab of concrete on the front of our house.

Dottie enjoyed the beautiful weather and watching sister HOP!

Mary Margo started a new school.  Her teacher told me make flash cards of  Sight words she will need to know for kindergarten.  I found it funny what I used to make them.  10 Years ago these were "well wisher" cards at my wedding.

Sweet Sisters holding hands and taking a little stroller nap.

We visited the turtles at the pond.  Except the turtles were asleep or something...they didn't want our crackers

I cranked up the Sewing Machine!  So EXCITING!!!

Sisters sharing laughs.

PEEK A BOO!
This is what we see every morning when this sweet little Sugar wakes up!  She peeks out of her crib and watches down the hall for us to come rescue her.
